Photography at BER: Capturing the Heart of Berlin Brandenburg Airport

Berlin is a city that never ceases to surprise me with its scale and creative opportunities. Recently, I had the privilege of being part of a small, select group of photographers invited to explore Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER). It was a day dedicated to capturing the soul of aviation, from the industrial majesty of the tarmac to the sophisticated vibes of its newest lounges.

Exploring the Tarmac: Under the Control Tower

Our journey began with a specialized tour of the airport grounds. The highlight for any photographer is, undoubtedly, getting up close to the structures that define the skyline of BER.

We were taken out to the airfield, positioning ourselves directly beneath the iconic Control Tower. Looking up from the ground level, the perspective is overwhelming. Capturing the tower's sleek, modern lines from this "street-level" vantage point offered a raw and imposing look at the airport’s nerve center—a view very few people ever get to see, let alone photograph.

Culinary Diversity: A Golden Hour at Bar Adler & Bär

After a productive session of shooting on the move, we wrapped up the day with a fantastic happy hour hosted by casualfood GmbH.

For those who don't know, casualfood stands for culinary diversity at the airport, and they’ve truly outdone themselves with their new concept: Bar Adler & Bär, which opened its doors this past March.

As the sun began to set, the bar provided the perfect atmosphere for some lifestyle photography and much-needed networking. The blend of high-end design and the relaxed "happy hour" energy was the perfect way to conclude our tour. It’s a spot I highly recommend to any traveler looking for a taste of Berlin’s modern hospitality before their flight.

Reflections on the Berlin Creative Scene

If you had told me a few years ago that I’d be shooting behind the scenes at one of Europe's major hubs, I wouldn't have believed you. This experience was a reminder of the incredible opportunities available here in Berlin.

A huge thank you to the BER team for the invitation and for being so sensational throughout the visit. Connecting with fellow photographers in such a unique setting is exactly why I love what I do.

I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to Explore Berlin With Us, BER Airport, and Casual Food GmbH for making this unique experience possible. Their support provided a rare glimpse behind the scenes, allowing us to document the intersection of travel, architecture, and gastronomy in such a dynamic setting.
